THE SPA OF LANGADAS



The spa of Langadas lies at the northeastern end of the known Lake of Langadas (or Lake Koronia) at a distance of 19 km from Thessaloniki. Langadas, populated by 12,000 people, is built in the ancient Alindia of Mygdonia area.
The first hydrotherapeutic installations are dated since 900 A.D. and have been constructed by the Byzantine medical officer Justinian. In 1670 several geographers and travellers refer to those byzantine installations and especially to the excellent marble group baths. The systematic organization of the spa of Langadas began this century and more specifically in 1925.

TEMPERATURE : 39 - 40 oC

CHEMICAL COMPOSITION : The waters are described as containing sulfur, sodium, fluorine, dicarbonated and alkaline.

THERAPEUTIC CAPABILITIES : Hydrotherapy for rheumatisms, arthritics, gynecological diseases, dermotopathies, nerves diseases.
